Frankie, a 20-year-old girl has been caring for her father Tony, who’s in need of a kidney transplant. Tony, always having been the caretaker of the family is ashamed and guilt-ridden by his worsening kidney condition which has led him to heavily depend on his daughter as well as his brother in-law, Gino. Frankie, after losing her mother and needing to make grown-up decisions from a young age, is willing to give up whatever it takes to keep Tony in her life.
The key turning point of the story begins after Frankie goes against Tony’s wishes in hopes of being his organ donor. When she tests negative, it sparks a raw and emotional conversation between daughter and father. It is only after this conversation Frankie realizes that she can’t always fix what is meant to be fixed by another. After Frankie comes to terms with the circumstances of her role, life unveils itself revealing Gino’s role in Frankie’s and Tony’s life.
